Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Oregon, and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I got my Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from George Fox University in Portland, OR in 2007.

My specialties include trauma and relationship issues.

I love working with clients with childhood trauma such as abuse and neglect. I often tell people that I like the complexity this brings because I like the challenge, the process of understanding the complexity, and finding solutions that are individualized to each person. It's very difficult work, but the most rewarding when people find ways of living that are meaningful for them - often for the first time.

I also love working with relationships - romantic, families, friendships, and at work. Relationships are a foundation of life, so when problems in relationships arise they can be very impactful. Communicating, understanding, and connecting are important skills to have and I enjoy helping people develop these to improve their relationships.

Clinical Supervisor

In addition to professional counseling, I am an Oregon Board-approved Clinical Supervisor. I supervise registered interns pursuing licensure with the state.

As a helper, I enjoy helping other therapists grow in competence, sharpen their skills, and clarify their professional identity. The person of the therapist is the most important element, and I'm skilled at bringing this out for my supervisees to see and accept with greater confidence. This makes their impact greater with the clients they see and brings a deeper joy for the work they do.

I am a collaborative supervisor, seeking to work with my supervisees - but never harder than them. My goal is to help them gain the confidence within themselves to work through difficult cases and find answers to complicated questions. I've found that this approach is supportive and encouraging, yet still challenging in the most helpful ways.
